Rutherford County Schools' officials have been planning carefully and energetically for a variety of school reopening scenarios this summer. Providing excellent educational opportunities for our students and reopening our schools in a safe, healthy, and responsible way are central to those planning efforts. Yesterday's announcement about statewide school reopening arrangements provides additional focus for our work, but considerations for parents, children, and families with differing priorities, needs, opportunities, and interests here in Rutherford County are even more critical factors. The plans and accompanying recommendations we will ultimately present to the board of education next week reflect those considerations and options that are responsive to the different needs of students and families across our school community. During the coming days and weeks, we look forward to sharing additional information about those arrangements, and we especially look forward to welcoming our new and returning students as the new school year gets underway next month.
